The Sanitation Engineer is responsible for treating the potable water system to the sanitation standards as defined by USPH and Company Regulations. By the term “potable water system” we cover all bunkering, storing and distribution arrangements of potable water including the spas. Also in the broader area of water system are included the swimming pools and health gym pool. He is responsible for the superchlorination of the water and spa systems, changing filter sand all other maintenance work required, including the disinfection of the spa compressors.

The 2nd Engineer performing duties as an Engineer Watch Officer (EWO) in the Engine Control Room (ECR) and is the Chief Engineer’s representative and is primarily responsible, at all times, for the safe and efficient operation and upkeep of machinery affecting the safety of the ship during his watch. Oversees the operation, maintenance and repairs of Engineering personnel during his watch. Assign and perform duties as necessary to ensure the engine room is a safe working environment in operational readiness. He is on call 24 hours a day for emergencies or other than normal operating conditions. Always follows CCI procedures rules and regulations as defined on the SQM system.
